US Treasury Auction Results Spark Fresh Rise in 10-Year Bond Yield
The US Treasury's 7-year auction results were mixed on Wednesday, September 24, 2026. The sale tailed moderately, but not as severely as the previous day's 5-year auction, which saw a substantial 3-basis-point tail.
This was enough to prompt a further rise in the US 10-year bond yield, which breached the 5.1% mark. Authors Padhraic Garvey and Benjamin Schroeder suggest that rate hike fears are already discounted in the market, and there is enough to address perceived inflation risks.
However, they also express some caution regarding the European Central Bank's (ECB) full 100-basis-point pricing over the next year. Given the uncertainty surrounding the outlook, this target may be overly ambitious.
