US Treasury Yields Fall Amid Fed Remarks and Economic Data Release
US Treasury yields declined on September 22, 2026, as investors awaited fresh data and speeches from Federal Reserve officials. The yield on benchmark 10-year US Treasury notes fell by 2 basis points to 4.943%. The two-year Treasury note yield dropped by 1 basis point to 4.741%, while the 30-year Treasury securities yield also declined by 2 basis points to 5.272%.
The market participants were awaiting ADP's weekly employment figures, which were scheduled for release at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time. Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip Jefferson was due to speak at a Treasury market conference hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York at 10:20 a.m. Eastern Time.
Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee, speaking in London, expressed concern over elevated inflation in services and mentioned that forecasts for inflation to peak and then decline had repeatedly been pushed back, from the fourth quarter of 2025 to an estimated timeframe in 2027.
