USD Dominance Continues as Yen Weakens Further
The Japanese Yen (JPY) continues to weaken against the US Dollar (USD), with the USD/JPY pair trading 0.2% higher at around 157.70 during the European session on Wednesday.
The US Dollar Index (DXY) has reached a fresh seven-week high of 100.76, driven by hawkish guidance from Federal Reserve officials.
Brown Brothers Harriman's Elias Haddad notes that Fed officials are reinforcing the prospect of additional tightening, underscoring the bank's constructive view on the Dollar. St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem and Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee have both cautioned that further rate hikes may be needed to curb inflation.
The US Dollar remains firm despite a decline in oil prices due to United States-Iran diplomacy hopes, which has eased fears of high inflation expectations.
