USD/JPY Exchange Rate Predictions Clash in 2026

Market analysts are offering mixed predictions for the US Dollar to Japanese Yen (USD/JPY) exchange rate in 2026 and beyond. Crédit Agricole expects a climb to 163 by December of next year, with JPMorgan identifying signs of demand from Japanese investors.

However, JPMorgan flags potential support levels around 156.50-156.60, citing the recent yen rebound following comments from Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama about US concerns over Yen weakness.

Crédit Agricole's forecast sees a decline in the USD/JPY rate to 162 by March 2027, 161 in June, and 158 in September of that year before recovering to 156 by December 2027. The firm argues that official currency support needs stronger backing from monetary policy.
