USD/JPY Rallies to Fresh High Amid Overbought Conditions
The Japanese Yen has come under pressure against the US Dollar, with the USD/JPY pair rising for five straight sessions to reach 158.83. According to UOB's Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann, momentum remains positive but indicators are deeply overbought.
In their analysis, they expect near-term consolidation between 158.30 and 159.00, yet see scope for a test of major resistance at 159.60 as long as the pair holds above the revised strong support at 157.60.
Recently, the USD/JPY pair has experienced a significant rally, with prices rising by 0.34% to 158.83 in the past day. However, negative divergence on momentum indicators and overbought conditions suggest that instead of continuing to rise, the USD is more likely to consolidate.
Looking ahead, UOB's analysts note that further USD strength seems likely, but any advance will face firm resistance at 159.60 before a potential pullback increases in risk.
