USD/JPY Range-Bound Trading Expected Amid Lack of Clear Direction
United Overseas Bank strategists Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann have observed that the USD/JPY pair remains range-bound in the short term, lacking clear directional cues. Intraday trading is expected to stay within 157.55 and 158.45, with broader fluctuations anticipated between 156.35 and 158.70 over the next one to three weeks.
Yesterday, the USD/JPY pair fluctuated between 157.41 and 158.29, closing largely unchanged at 157.90. The strategists had previously forecasted a range between 157.10 and 158.10, which aligned closely with the actual price movements. Today, they expect the pair to continue trading within a similar range.
Looking ahead to the next one to three months, the strategists highlight building downward momentum, suggesting potential further weakness in the USD/JPY pair. This outlook contrasts with the more stable range expected in the short to medium term.
