USD/JPY Slips Below 157.00 Amid Tokyo's Intervention Warnings
The Japanese Yen has strengthened against the US Dollar as Tokyo issues foreign exchange warnings ahead of crucial US data releases.
USD/JPY is trading near 157.00 in early Asian hours, with the Yen gaining ground due to increased intervention talk from Japanese and US authorities.
Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama reiterated that undervalued Yen is problematic, while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized cooperation between Japan and the US to address currency weakness.
The hawkish tone of Federal Reserve officials, including Governor Michael Barr and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, is also supporting the Dollar despite the pair's decline.
