USDA Reports Quiet Wool Trading, Rising Lamb Features
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service recently released its weekly market report for September 14, 2026, covering wool, lamb, goat, and veal data. The report showed a quiet week in wool trading, with no confirmed domestic trades for the period from September 7 through September 11.
According to the National Wool Review, prices for merino clippings stood at $3.80 per pound, down 0.05 from the previous week. Domestic greasy wool volume remained at zero pounds for the week, matching the last reported figure from August 31 and the year-ago figure from September 8, 2025.
The Australian Wool Market Report showed an Australian Wool Exchange Eastern Market Indicator of $1,878 per kilogram, with a passed-in rate of 10 percent. Australian wool prices are quoted in US dollars per pound delivered to Charleston, South Carolina, and 75 to 85 percent of the Australian price may be used as an estimated value of clean domestic wool free on board warehouse.
Meanwhile, lamb features saw a rise in the Weekly Grocery Store Lamb Feature Activity report. The feature rate increased by 7.2 percent, with items from the leg section gaining advertising space and shoulder and ground items showing a decrease. Goat meat was lightly tested, with stew meat as the primary featured item.
