Vanguard Enters Australian Floating-Rate Bond Market
Vanguard has launched its first floating-rate bond ETF in Australia, providing investors with a new option for generating income.
The Australian Floating Rate Bond ETF (VFLT) is available on the ASX and tracks the Bloomberg AusBond Corporate Liquid FRN 1+ Year Index. This index provides exposure to Australian dollar-denominated rate notes issued primarily by investment-grade corporate borrowers.
Vanguard's APAC head of fixed income, Jean Bauler, said that investors are increasingly looking for solutions that can deliver regular income with relative stability, particularly in retirement.
The floating-rate bond structure allows the coupon payments to adjust in line with prevailing interest rates, which Vanguard says results in lower duration risk and more stable capital values. This makes it an attractive option for income-focused investors seeking to reduce their sensitivity to interest rate movements.
