Vietnam and Australia Strengthen Science and Technology Ties

General Secretary and President To Lam's recent visit to Australia and New Zealand has yielded significant results, with 62 documents signed in cooperation. The trip marked a new chapter in bilateral relations, with a focus on science and technology, innovation, education, human resources, trade, investment, green transformation, essential minerals, high-tech agriculture, and the marine economy.

The agreements include joint statements between Vietnam and Australia on strengthening scientific and technological connectivity and innovation. This represents a new model for cooperation frameworks between Vietnam and its partners, as stated by Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung. The model goes beyond mere technology transfer to joint development in science and technology, exploitation of rare earth minerals, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, and high-quality human resources.

The visit has also placed economic cooperation within a new vision, not only expanding trade and investment but also strengthening supply chain linkages, facilitating businesses, and better exploiting the complementarity between economies. Australia and Vietnam are promoting cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital transformation, essential minerals, energy transition, and high-quality human resources.

New Zealand's emphasis is on developing complementary strengths and fundamental advantages, especially in education and training, human resource development, high-tech agriculture, and sustainable development.
