Vietnam Seeks Boost in High-Quality Japanese Investment
Politburo member Nguyen Thanh Nghi has called on Japanese firms to boost high-quality investment in strategic sectors, including infrastructure and energy. The head of the Commission for Policy and Strategy, a key advisory body to Vietnam's Party Central Committee, made the appeal during a meeting with Maeda Tadashi, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), on October 2.
Nghi highlighted several areas for cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the coming period. These include stronger exchanges on major shifts in the global economy and their impacts on development strategies, as well as closer cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and strategic industries. He also called for greater attraction of high-quality Japanese investment to jointly develop resilient supply chains.
Nghi expressed his hope that JBIC and Japanese businesses will continue accompanying Vietnam not only as financiers or investors but also as partners working with the country to address long-term development challenges.
