Vietnam Seeks High-Quality Japanese Investment for Strategic Sectors
Nguyen Thanh Nghi, a member of Vietnam's Politburo and head of its Commission for Policy and Strategy, met with Maeda Tadashi, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of JBIC, on October 2. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in strategic sectors.
Nghi emphasized the importance of high-quality Japanese investment in infrastructure, energy, and the green transition for Vietnam's economic development. He highlighted the need for Vietnam to select solutions that match its resource-balancing capacity and development conditions when addressing issues such as ensuring electricity supply and building a safe, stable, flexible, and resilient energy system.
The two sides discussed major global trends, orientations for strengthening bilateral cooperation, and issues related to energy security. Representatives of Japanese businesses praised Vietnam's foreign investment policies and expressed their commitment to continuing to accompany and closely coordinate with the country.
