Waller's Dovish Comments Boost US Stocks Ahead of NFP Report

US stocks are poised for a modestly higher open following Fed Governor Christopher Waller's dovish remarks, which have calmed inflation fears ahead of today's nonfarm payroll report.

The market had surged in recent sessions amid concerns over stubborn inflation and swelling government debt, but Waller's comments have seen rate hike expectations for September drop to 50%, down from 63% just a day ago.

Today's nonfarm payroll report is expected to show that 56,000 jobs were added in August, with the unemployment rate holding steady at 4.1%. Weaker-than-expected jobs data could see rate hike expectations fall further, while stronger-than-expected numbers may push them up.
