Wanguo Gold Pours AUD 124M into BlackRock Funds
Wanguo Gold Group Limited has made a strategic move to deploy its surplus cash into two BlackRock-managed investment schemes. The company has committed AUD 20 million to the Global Liquid Alternatives Fund, S1 and approximately AUD 103.8 million to the Multi Opportunity Absolute Return Fund.
The funds, both open-ended and multi-strategy, target returns above the Reserve Bank of Australia Cash Rate through diversified hedge and absolute-return strategies that use long and short positions, derivatives, and leverage across global markets.
Wanguo Gold's board stated that the subscriptions were negotiated on arm’s-length commercial terms, taking into account the group’s available surplus cash, expected investment returns, and prevailing market interest rates. This move indicates a more sophisticated deployment of excess liquidity, potentially enhancing overall earnings volatility and risk-adjusted returns.
The company operates in the mining sector with a focus on gold and related resources, listed in Hong Kong under stock code 3939. Wanguo Gold Group Limited engages in active treasury management to optimize returns alongside its core mining operations.
