Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized inflation as the central bank's top priority at the Jackson Hole economic symposium. He stated that curbing inflation is essential, warning that policymakers must be confident it is slowing meaningfully, or they have 'work to do.'

Warsh clarified that the Fed's 2% inflation target, measured by the personal consumption expenditures price index (PCE), remains a firm and fixed goal. He described interest rates as the Fed's predominant tool for achieving its mandate.

European Central Bank Governing Council member Primoz Dolenc echoed Warsh's concerns, suggesting that rate hikes in September may be necessary due to ongoing inflation pressures. In contrast, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey expressed caution, stating there is no urgency to increase rates, citing subdued second-round effects and a softening labor market.
