Warsh Warns Wall Street: Rate Hikes Ahead Amid Persistent Inflation
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's recent comments have sent shockwaves through Wall Street and investors.
In his prepared remarks to the press following the September FOMC meeting, Warsh pointed to a strengthening U.S. economy, noting that 'credit flows have been robust,' and highlighted that 'job gains have kept pace with the workforce.'
However, it's Warsh's blunt assessment of inflation that has Wall Street on edge.
'This summer's inflation readings do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved,' Warsh said, indicating that the FOMC will continue to raise interest rates to tame persistently elevated inflation.
