The Westpac Leading Index in Australia remained unchanged at 0% in July, signaling a slowdown in economic momentum. The index combines various data points to predict future growth and has been hovering near zero for several months.

According to Westpac, the slight decline from June's revised 0.04% reading indicates a subtle softening in the outlook. This comes as the Reserve Bank of Australia is closely monitoring economic conditions to determine its next move on interest rates.

Westpac chief economist Bill Evans noted that the index remains consistent with the economy growing at around its potential, but added that 'the slight easing in momentum warrants close attention in the coming months.'
