Wyoming Producers Meet with Fed Economists at Cheyenne Roundtable

Wyoming producers will gather in Cheyenne to discuss agricultural economic conditions with Federal Reserve economists on September 24. Organized by John Hewlett, a University of Wyoming ranch and farm management specialist, the two-hour regional roundtable aims to provide a clearer picture of agricultural conditions.

The event is part of the Kansas City Fed's Center for Agriculture and the Economy initiative, which was established in October 2025 to consolidate the bank's agricultural research and industry engagement. Hewlett worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to organize Wyoming's participation in the roundtable, recruiting a cross-section of operators from various agricultural sectors.

'Working with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, and our extension colleagues, we have assembled a small group that reflects Wyoming's livestock and crop agriculture,' Hewlett said. The discussions will focus on issues such as transportation and marketing challenges, arid environment, irrigation water problems, and the realities of producing livestock and crops in Wyoming.
