Yen Stages Stunning Rebound Against Dollar
The yen has staged a remarkable recovery after months of decline, thanks in part to the efforts of the US Federal Reserve and Japan's economy. The currency has strengthened against the dollar, with the exchange rate reaching its strongest point since early May at 157.40.
Just two days prior, the yen was flirting around its weakest levels since 1986, sparking alarm bells in Tokyo as rising import costs squeezed businesses and consumers.
The rebound is a welcome relief for Japan, which has seen inflation rise due to the currency's prolonged decline. The strengthening yen should help mitigate these effects, at least in the short term.
