The Japanese Yen has strengthened as markets fully price a 25bps Bank of Japan rate hike at its upcoming meeting on September 18th. Governor Ueda's hawkish comments have reinforced market expectations for another rate increase.

BoJ officials, including Governor Ueda and board member Takata, have signaled their willingness to raise rates again in response to inflation concerns. Takata reiterated his call for a hike after voting for one at the last meeting in July.

The comments suggest that the BoJ will adopt a more data-dependent approach to setting interest rates, rather than following a fixed pace as seen previously.
