Yen Weakens Ahead of BOJ Rate Hike Expectations
The yen got off to a weak start against major currencies at the beginning of Asian trading on Friday, as traders anticipate an interest rate hike from the Bank of Japan. This move would push rates to their highest level in over three decades.
The Japanese currency fell by 0.1% to 156.19 yen per dollar, resuming its decline after a brief pause on Thursday. Against the euro, it was 0.2% weaker at 179.3000 yen.
