$1 Billion Caterpillar Factory Coming to North Carolina
Caterpillar Inc., a global leader in heavy machinery, is investing $1 billion to build a new assembly plant in Sanford, North Carolina. The facility will focus on producing compact track loaders and telehandlers, versatile machines used across various industries such as construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling.
The investment aims to meet growing demand for these products by expanding access to customers. According to Rod Shurman, president of the Construction Industries Group at Caterpillar, 'As demand for compact equipment continues to increase, we're investing to better serve this growing segment of customers.'
The new plant will feature advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, digital production systems, and integrated logistics capabilities to create a more connected and efficient operation. North Carolina was chosen due to the state's existing manufacturing expertise and operations in Sanford.
