$12K Dispute Lands Man in Court Against JPMorgan Chase Bank
A Westmoreland County man is suing JPMorgan Chase Bank for allegedly withholding nearly $12,000 from his account.
The lawsuit was filed by Jim Serena after he helped a friend, Peter McNeal, who reported that the money was missing from his account in April. McNeal had made an honest mistake when sending Zelle transactions to Serena, but instead of disputing them, he wrote affidavits and submitted them to the bank.
Despite the affidavits, JPMorgan Chase froze Serena's account, reversed all the transactions, and ultimately locked him out. The company credited the money back to McNeal's account and closed it.
Serena had to quickly turn over his payments earlier this year after his account was frozen, which caused him significant stress and anxiety. He even ended up in the emergency room due to the situation.
