Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that IBM plans to invest in quantum computing and cloud infrastructure across India. This move is expected to create new opportunities for the country's growing technology talent pool.

The investment will strengthen IBM's presence in India's advanced technology sectors, including semiconductor design teams. The company aims to expand its operations in areas such as drug discovery, financial modeling, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific research.

Quantum computing uses quantum bits, or 'qubits', which can exist as both 0 and 1 at the same time. This enables quantum computers to solve highly complex problems much faster than traditional systems.
