€13 Million Investment Boosts Merck Life Science's Asian Manufacturing Capacity
Merck Life Science has expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Bengaluru, India, with an investment of approximately €13 million. This move strengthens the company's ability to supply critical materials to customers across India and the Asia-Pacific region.
The expansion at Merck Life Science's Jigani site in Bengaluru introduces biological buffer manufacturing alongside established chemistry capabilities. The investment enables faster and more reliable access to critical materials used by customers in research, diagnostics, biotechnology, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Merck Life Science's 'in-region, for-region' approach aims to expand manufacturing capabilities closer to the markets and customers it serves. By adding biological buffer production in India, the Jigani expansion broadens the site's manufacturing capabilities while strengthening Merck Life Science's regional supply infrastructure for the rapidly developing life sciences sector.
The company acknowledged the support of India's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the German Embassy New Delhi, and Invest India in helping strengthen life science manufacturing capabilities in the region.
