A federal judge in California has awarded plaintiffs' attorneys $146.8 million in fees after they won a $425 million jury verdict against Google in a privacy class action lawsuit.

The lawsuit centered on users' claims that Google unlawfully saved and used information about consumers' activities on third-party apps, despite their having opted out of tracking.

U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg praised the attorneys for taking on a risky case and performing in an 'exemplary' way, stating that the fee was 'warranted by the extraordinary nature of the case.'
