$1.7 Million Embezzlement Scheme Unravels in Port Neches

A woman from Port Neches, Texas, has been charged with stealing over $1.7 million from her employer during a seven-year period.

Thalia Powers, 51, was the office manager at BioMedical Waste Solutions in Port Arthur and had access to the company's accounts.

A detective from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office found that Powers made 154 online web payments and account transfers to her personal lines of credit at American Express, Bank of America Visa, and Comenity Capital between April 2018 and February 2025.

The total amount of these fraudulent transactions is $1,748,901.35.
