$200,000 Grant Boosts Alabama Community College's Healthcare Infrastructure
Gadsden State Community College in Alabama has received a $200,000 grant from The Home Depot's Retool Your School program for campus improvements at its Valley Street Campus.
The funding will support the expansion and modernization of facilities supporting the Dental Assisting program. This includes enclosing an existing patio area to create additional student support and community-use space.
The project also involves ADA-compliant accessibility enhancements, energy-efficient storefront windows, upgraded HVAC ductwork, improved lighting and electrical enhancements. The goal is to increase safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and functionality of the facility while providing a better environment for students and employees.
The Dental Assisting program at Gadsden State is unique in its service area and prepares students for careers in healthcare. The expanded facility will also enable preventive-care outreach, workshops, and other services benefiting underserved communities.
