$29 Million Awarded to Family of Irish UN Worker Killed in 737 Max Crash

A jury has awarded $29 million to the family of Michael 'Mick' Ryan, an Irish United Nations worker who died in the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max crash in 2019.

The plane crashed on March 10, killing all 157 people on board. This was the second deadly crash involving a Boeing 737 Max in just a few months, following another fatal incident off the coast of Indonesia in October 2018 that killed 189 people.

The Ryan family filed a lawsuit against Boeing and several other parties involved in the production and operation of the aircraft, alleging negligence and wrongful death. The jury's decision is seen as a significant victory for the family and could have implications for future lawsuits related to the 737 Max crashes.
