5 Quantum Computing Stocks to Watch for Breakthroughs
Quantum computing has the potential to be the next big technological breakthrough after artificial intelligence (AI), according to experts. Companies in the field are pursuing the technology in various ways, so a basket approach may be the best investment option.
The Motley Fool recommends five stocks to include in this quantum computing basket: IonQ (IONQ +1.11%), Quantinuum (QNT +0.28%), D-Wave Quantum (QBTS -0.40%), Infleqtion (INFQ +1.47%), and IBM (IBM -0.68%).
IonQ uses the trapped-ion method with embedded microwave antennas, achieving 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity. It has also made several acquisitions to advance its technology.
Quantinuum uses a similar approach and has recorded 99.92% 2-qubit gate fidelity. Its new Sol system aims to hit 99.999% logical fidelity in 2027, while its software tools are designed to correct errors directly in the code.
D-Wave Quantum is a leader in quantum annealing, but it's also developing a gate-based system using fluxonium qubits.
