7-Eleven Takes a Bite Out of the Cola Market
The cola wars between Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have been ongoing for decades. Although Coke remains ahead, Pepsi has consistently gained ground, even adding flavored creams to their sodas in response to a trend known as 'dirty soda.' Both companies reported significant growth during the first quarter of this year, with Coca-Cola seeing 7% revenue growth and PepsiCo slightly exceeding its forecast at $24.18 billion.
However, an unexpected player has entered the market: convenience store giant 7-Eleven. The company has launched three new sodas as part of their 7-Select line, including Cola Classic, Orange Soda, and Lemon-Lime Twist. These affordable drinks are priced at $1.99 each in 20-ounce bottles.
According to Nikki Boyers, vice president of private brands, emerging brands, and 7 Ventures at 7-Eleven, '7-Select Soda reflects what the 7-Select brand stands for: variety, dependable quality, and value.' The new sodas are available now at participating Speedway and Stripes stores as well as at 7-Eleven locations.
