$72M Trade Secrets Verdict Stands Against Boeing
Boeing has failed to overturn a $72 million trade secrets loss in court. The aerospace giant had argued that the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit should have heard its appeal, but the Ninth Circuit disagreed.
The dispute centers around Zunum Aero Inc., which was awarded $72 million after Boeing allegedly misused its trade secrets. Boeing attempted to remove the judge who vacated the award, but this effort was unsuccessful.
According to the Ninth Circuit, the patent counterclaim made by Boeing was not compulsory, meaning it would have been optional for the company to file. This decision allowed the appeal of the trade secrets judgment to proceed.
