74-Year-Old Salesman and Football Fan Passes Away in Poland, Ohio

Don Hill, a 74-year-old resident of Poland, Ohio, passed away on September 6, 2026. Born on April 2, 1952, in Youngstown, he was the son of Veryl G. and Helen E. (Scott) Hill.

Hill had a successful career in sales, spanning over four decades with companies like Stambaugh-Thompson, Lowe's, and The Home Depot, where he retired as a Contractor Sales Representative in 2018.

He was known for his love of golf and football, often cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hill cherished time spent with family and friends, leaving behind his wife, Jill Makara, three children, Jayson (Kim), Justin, and Rachel (Bruce) Hill, four grandchildren, Lia, Elena, Jayden, and Cyprus, as well as a sister, Darlene S. (Donald) Williams, two sisters-in-law, Jenny DeCapita and Joyce (John) Touris, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Animal Charity in Hill's name. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2026, at Highway House, with a memorial service starting at 5:30 p.m.
