97-Year-Old Elrosa Resident Delores Schmidt Passes Away
Delores Schmidt, a 97-year-old resident of Elrosa, Minnesota, passed away on August 11, 2026, at CentraCare Hospital Sauk Centre. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, with Rev. Kevin Soenneker officiating and Rev. Joe Korf concelebrating.
Delores was born on January 17, 1929, to Joseph and Theresa (Dirschel) Essler in Padua, Minnesota. She attended rural grade school near Padua through the eighth grade. In 1948, she married Vernon 'Vern' Schmidt at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Padua.
The couple made their homes in several locations throughout their lives, including Elrosa, Boyd, and Blaine, before returning to Sauk Centre. Delores worked for Honeywell and operated the Palmer House Bar with her husband. They later built The Red Carpet Bar & Lounge, where she continued to work until retirement.
