A2A Joins Agentic AI Foundation to Foster Interoperable Agent Systems
Google's open protocol for agent-to-agent communication, Agent2Agent (A2A), has joined the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This move puts A2A under the same umbrella as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and other related projects.
The addition of A2A to these projects will give companies deploying agentic systems more flexibility to choose providers based on cost or performance. According to Mazin Gilbert, Executive Director of AAIF, 'Enterprises are already deploying AI agents in production and creating meaningful value across their operations.' He believes that as these systems grow more sophisticated, their impact will depend on multiple agents working together across platforms, vendors, and organisational boundaries.
A2A provides a common, open protocol for agent-to-agent collaboration. Gilbert states, 'A2A gives the industry a path to build powerful multi-agent systems without sacrificing choice or control.'
