AAPL Abandons Foldable MacBook Plans Amid Overvaluation Concerns
Apple has abandoned its development of a foldable MacBook and mid-sized OLED MacBook, according to research firm Omdia. The foldable MacBook was expected to feature an expansive 16.1 to 18-inch display, while the mid-sized OLED model targeted a 14.4 to 16.1-inch screen size.
The move is part of Apple's strategic pivot in its product roadmap, with the company opting for more incremental OLED upgrades and maintaining its mini-LED lineup for the near term. Despite this setback, Apple plans to launch a new 13.8-inch MacBook with advanced OLED technology in 2029, alongside 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch OLED MacBook Pro models slated for late 2026.
The current stock price of $330.15 is approximately 16.1% above the company's intrinsic value estimate of $284.48, according to GuruFocus' proprietary GF Value metric. This suggests that Apple is modestly overvalued at present, implying a limited margin of safety for new investors.
