Abel Shifts Berkshire Portfolio to Tech-Heavy Focus

Greg Abel, the new CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, has implemented significant changes to the conglomerate's investment portfolio since taking over from Warren Buffett. One notable shift is a concentrated approach, with 63% of the $355 billion portfolio allocated to just five key stocks.

The largest holdings under Abel are Apple ($70.88 billion), American Express ($52.91 billion), Coca-Cola ($34.73 billion), Bank of America ($32.49 billion), and Alphabet ($31.28 billion). These companies have been major investments for Berkshire Hathaway, with some holding steady since the 1980s and 1990s.

Abel's strategy has also seen a marked increase in technology stocks, with Apple and Alphabet being notable additions to the portfolio. While Buffett initially introduced these investments, Abel is continuing to build on this trend.

However, not all holdings are viewed as untouchable. Bank of America, despite remaining one of the largest investments, has been significantly reduced since mid-2024, with approximately 519.23 million shares sold off. This decision may be attributed to the stock's current valuation, which is no longer seen as a bargain.

Abel's leadership will undoubtedly shape the future of Berkshire Hathaway, and investors are keenly observing how his approach will balance tradition and innovation in the company's investment strategy.
