Ackman Unveils Fresh Portfolio Strategy for Pershing Square
Bill Ackman has made significant changes to Pershing Square's portfolio in recent months. He created two new sources of capital to invest in for the company, including a $5 billion fund that he launched last quarter.
Ackman used the proceeds from several exited positions to invest in new opportunities. These exits included Alphabet, Universal Music Group, and Hertz Global. In contrast, he bought six new investments across various industries, including Visa, Mastercard, Netflix, S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon.
Pershing Square also made private investments using its balance sheet last quarter. This move will seed a new closed-end fund later this year that focuses on private companies. Ackman expects the new fund to offer a more shareholder-friendly way to invest in late-stage private businesses before their IPOs.
