ACL Fest Delays Opening Due to Muddy Conditions

Festival organizers at Austin City Limits Music Festival delayed opening Zilker Park on Saturday due to muddy conditions from heavy rain on Friday. The decision was announced on Instagram, where they initially planned to open at the usual time but instead opted for a two-hour delay until 2pm.

The first day of the festival saw festival-goers navigating through growing stretches of mud in Zilker Park, with staff using hydro-vac trucks to suction parts of the lawn and pouring mulch over puddles. Despite these efforts, much of the area surrounding the American Express stage had become muddy by Friday night.

Festival organizers reassured fans that Dillo Dirt, a treated wastewater solids combined with yard trimmings collected from around Austin, has not been used at the park since 2009.
