Africa Aviation Market Set for Major Expansion Through 2045

Africa's aviation market is on the cusp of significant growth over the next two decades, according to Boeing's latest forecast. The continent's commercial fleet is expected to expand from its current 755 aircraft to 1,625 by 2045, a rise of nearly 116%.

This growth will be driven by population expansion, urbanization, and increasing demand for air travel. Passenger traffic is predicted to increase at an annual rate of nearly 6%, with intra-African connectivity emerging as a key driver.

Single-aisle aircraft will dominate deliveries, accounting for the majority of new jets as airlines expand their domestic and regional networks. Boeing forecasts the introduction of 870 new single-aisle jets, while widebody aircraft are expected to support longer-range operations and fleet modernization, with 240 units anticipated.

The forecast also highlights the need for a significant increase in aviation personnel, including pilots, technicians, and cabin crew. Boeing projects a $140 billion commercial services market through 2045, which will include maintenance, repair, overhaul, and digital solutions.
