A new study by IBM found that 60% of employees believe artificial intelligence (AI) is weakening their critical workplace skills, despite organisations placing growing importance on human capabilities such as critical thinking and judgement.

The research, based on surveys of 8,800 full-time employees and 1,500 Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs), points to an emerging challenge for employers balancing AI adoption with workforce capability development.

Critical thinking was identified as the most commonly affected area, with nearly three-quarters of concerned employees saying skills erosion has already begun.
