AI Cloud Wars: Oracle vs. Alphabet
Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are racing to become leaders in AI cloud infrastructure, but they're approaching investors with very different business models.
Oracle has been growing its cloud business at a faster pace than Alphabet's Google Cloud division, with revenue jumping 121% to $7.4 billion in the first quarter of 2026.
However, Oracle's financing risk is higher due to its capital intensity and need for significant funding to support its growth plans.
Alphabet, on the other hand, has a broader and more profitable business model that can fund its AI cloud ambitions, but it comes at a higher price with a forward earnings multiple of 22 times compared to Oracle's 17 times.
