AI Integration in Manufacturing to Become Unremarkable

Artificial intelligence is transforming manufacturing processes, according to industry experts. Mehul Patel, chief technology officer at Honeywell Technologies, believes that AI will become so integrated into daily operations that it will eventually stop being a topic of discussion.

'My prediction is that we won’t talk about AI, it will be part of what we do,' Patel said. 'Our systems will not only predict what will happen but tell us what is going to happen, why it's happening, and what we need to do.'

Companies like Fanuc America are already leveraging AI capabilities with their industrial robots. The firm has seen exponential growth in robot orders due to increased AI demand, with 1 million robots produced between 1982 and 2023.

Fanuc's partnership with Google Cloud allows its robots to access 'infinite amounts of resources' for learning and performing tasks. This integration enables operators to simply tell the robot what they want it to do, rather than having to program it manually.
