AI-Powered Consulting Teams Revolutionize Industry Efficiency
A new approach to technology consulting is emerging, one that uses artificial intelligence (AI) agents to augment small teams of human experts. IBM has introduced Forward Deployed Units (FDUs), which consist of three or four people working directly with clients and leveraging AI agents to handle repetitive tasks.
The FDUs use a platform called IBM Consulting Advantage, which provides tools for consulting work, including reusable methods and agents that can write software requirements, generate code, create test cases, scan software for defects, or search for patterns in existing procedures.
This approach is not only more efficient but also more cost-effective. A conventional approach to a data modernization project might require 300 people working for 12-15 months, but IBM was able to complete a similar project with a fraction of that team and on a timeline of less than nine months.
