AI Predicts Chaos for NFL Week 1: Seahawks Over Patriots, Rams Take Down 49ers

The NFL season is just around the corner, and with it comes the uncertainty of predicting outcomes. Last year, many expected the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat as champions, but instead, they missed the playoffs alongside other top contenders like the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.

With that in mind, USA TODAY Sports turned to Microsoft Copilot AI for predictions on Week 1 of the 2026 season. The chatbot had a remarkable track record last year, going 177-94-1 during the regular season and 12-1 in the playoffs.

Copilot was asked to predict the results of every Week 1 game and explain its logic for each prediction. While it generally followed the prompt without issue, there were some instances where outdated information was provided, a common challenge faced by Large Language Models (LLMs) when it comes to keeping up with the latest news.
