AI Stocks Fuel Wall Street Rally Amid Inflation Concerns
Wall Street indices rose on Friday as technology stocks led gains, driven by optimism around artificial intelligence. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.34% to 51,526.74, while the S&P 500 gained 0.18% to 7,718.15 and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.21% to 26,997.07 in late-morning trading.
Microsoft led gains among tech stocks after unveiling new capabilities for its Copilot application, including a coding tool and an always-on artificial intelligence agent. Qualcomm and Dell also rose by 5.1% and 5%, respectively. Akamai Technologies jumped 7.3% after announcing an $11.6 billion multiyear deal with AI firm Anthropic.
AI-related optimism has contributed to market gains this week, with investors betting that heavy spending on artificial intelligence will eventually translate into stronger productivity and economic growth.
