Air Atlanta Europe's Boeing 747-400 freighter encountered an unspecified problem shortly after departing Liège for Kinshasa.

The aircraft, 9H-AKA, stopped climbing and entered an extended holding pattern over the English Channel before turning north towards Amsterdam.

Flight-tracking data showed the plane descending towards Schiphol after spending nearly two hours airborne.
