Air China 747-8 Grounded After Refueling Accident at JFK

An Air China Boeing 747-8 was involved in an unusual refueling accident at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport, causing a fuel spill and damage to the aircraft's refueling ports.

The incident occurred on August 31 as the plane was being prepared for its return flight from JFK to Beijing, where it had arrived on August 30. A fuel truck began moving away while two hoses remained connected to the 747-8, resulting in the spill and damage.

Despite the cancellation of its scheduled passenger service due to the refueling issue, the aircraft was eventually cleared for departure after nearly three days at JFK. It departed on September 2 at 11:25 p.m., heading back to Beijing as a non-revenue repositioning flight.
