The first F-15EX Eagle II destined for Kadena Air Base has departed from Boeing's St. Louis facility and is en route to Portland, Oregon. The aircraft will undergo additional preparations at the Portland Air National Guard Base before its eventual movement to Kadena.

The F-15EX represents a significant investment by the US Air Force in modernizing its permanent fighter force at Kadena, reinforcing the enduring defense partnership with Japan and enhancing regional security.

According to Brig. Gen. John Gallemore, 18th Wing commander, 'This is an important next step toward bringing the F-15EX home to Kadena.' The aircraft's advanced avionics, increased payload capacity, and multi-role capabilities will enhance Kadena's ability to generate ready combat airpower.

The permanent stationing of the F-15EX at Kadena is scheduled for fiscal year 2027. As part of the Air Force's broader modernization of tactical airpower, the new aircraft will replace the legacy F-15C/D fleet.
