B-2486, the 747-8 involved in the incident, was scheduled to operate as Air China flight CA982 from New York to Beijing on August 31, 2026.
According to reports, a fuel truck began moving away from the plane while two refueling hoses remained connected, causing damage to both the hoses and the connections aboard the aircraft.
